Competitions/Results

At TDBC we play for fun, but if you enjoy entering competitions, there are many opportunities to get involved. Our club offers a welcoming environment for players of all abilities, whether you simply want to enjoy a relaxed roll‑up with friends or challenge yourself in structured competitions.

For those who like a bit of competition, we run a variety of internal leagues and club tournaments throughout the season. These events are designed to be friendly, supportive, and enjoyable, while still giving players the chance to develop their skills and experience the excitement of match play.

Beyond the club level, members also have the option to compete in county fixtures and open competitions. These pathways allow players to represent TDBC, meet bowlers from other clubs, and take part in a wider bowling community. For those who wish to progress even further, there are regional and national competitions that offer a higher level of play and the opportunity to test your abilities against some of the best bowlers in the sport.

Whether you prefer casual games or aspire to compete at higher levels, TDBC provides a range of opportunities to enjoy bowls in the way that suits you best.

New to Competitions?

If you’ve never played in a club competition before, you’re in the right place. Many of our competitions are designed for enjoyment first, with a gentle mix of friendly rivalry, learning, and plenty of support from fellow members. You don’t need years of experience, perfect delivery, or a deep knowledge of the rule book — just a willingness to give it a go.

Most competitions are played in a relaxed, easy‑going atmosphere, and newer bowlers often discover they enjoy the challenge far more than they expected. You’ll meet new people, learn new shots, and pick up tips simply by playing.

If you’re unsure which competition suits you, just ask any member or one of the captains, they’ll happily point you in the right direction. And if you’d prefer to start gently, we have several formats that are ideal for beginners, including pairs and social‑style events where you’re never left on your own.

So if you’re curious, take the step. Enter one competition this season and see how you get on. You might surprise yourself, and you’ll certainly have fun along the way.
