Inter Club Matches

These are matches which provide opportunities for our members to play against other clubs either at home or away. The format for such games will be either Ladies, Men’s or Mixed Matches. Selection will depend on the individuals experience, current bowling abilities and availability to play on the date required. In these matches members either represent the club or play in a friendly match as follows:

1. Representative Matches

These are competitions the Club has entered at National, Regional, County or Local levels. Selection for such matches will normally be done by the respective Indoor or Outdoor Selection Committees as appointed at the GMC AGM. The Team will be made up from players who will be picked on their known bowling abilities, willingness to play and eligibility to represent the Club.

2. Friendly Matches

It is the intention that selection for Friendly Matches is such that all Members who submit their names, irrespective of playing abilities, have an equal opportunity to play. Selection for Friendly Matches is carried out by the Indoor or Outdoor captain(s).

Selection

When Teams have been selected for Representative Matches, they will be announced by the Selection Committee on the relevant WhatsApp Group and also posted on the Club Notice Board. It is the responsibility of the individual to check whether they have been selected for a game and confirm their selection on the WhatsApp Group or by ticking off their name on the appropriate Team Sheet.

If a selected player becomes unavailable, they must advise the Team Captain. The name and telephone number of each Captain is on the Match Sheet. Non-availability is then indicated by writing N/A against their name on the Team Sheet. Reserve players will replace selected players who have not ticked off their name 24 hours prior to the Match being played.

Players selected are expected to arrive at the Club or Away Venue at least 20 minutes before the planned start of the game and report to the Team Captain.

Players for Inter Club Matches shall comply with the appropriate dress code as stipulated on the Team Sheet displayed on the Notice Board. Current Club bowls stickers must be used in all Inter Club Matches.
